FAQ
- Where are you located?
Ritz Furs is located on the east side of the street at 345
7th Ave. on the
9th Floor, between 29th and 30th streets.
- What is consignment?
Items left on consignment are under agreement allowing a
consignor to provide merchandise to a consignee (Ritz Furs), who attempts
to sell the merchandise on the consignor's behalf. Ritz Furs pays
the consignor after an item has been sold and paid for.
- What do you sell?
Ritz Furs specializes in the resale of the finest, most beautiful
'pre-loved' gently used furs and accessories.
- Do you rent any merchandise
such as furs?
No. Most of the merchandise at Ritz Furs is on consignment
and therefore not available for rent.
- How often does merchandise
come into the Ritz?
We get new merchandise everyday. We accept consignment Monday
thru Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. Except during July and August when we are closed on Saturdays. No appoinments are neccessary.
- Where do you get your
merchandise?
Our merchandise comes from an impressive group of consignors
all over the United States. We handpick the very best furs and accessories
from these clients keeping our shopping customer's preferences in
mind.
- What is your return
policy?
All sales are final, no refunds or exchanges are offered.
- Can we put merchandise
on hold?
Most of our merchandise is on consignment which means Ritz Furs (Ritz
Thrift Shop) does not own the items. It is unfair to the consignor
to have merchandise set aside without a guaranteed sale.
- Do you have a layaway
plan?
Yes, Ritz Furs has a layaway policy allowing merchandise to be held
on deposit for a period of time. Items put on layaway (or deposit)
are considered a final sale. The total amount of the sale is due within
specified dates.
- Do you do repairs on
the premises?
Yes, but we may not be able to accommodate repairs while you wait.
- What sizes do you have?
Ritz Furs carries all sizes.
- What is the difference between
"female" and "male" mink coat?
Female minks are generally lighter in weight, softer and suppler than
male mink. Male mink is often used for trimmings as well as for full
length coats to create a different fashion look.
- How much should I spend
for a good quality fur coat?
There's no magic number because so many factors influence price: the
type of fur used, the style and the craftsmanship it involves, designer
names. Other factors include the length, size and "sweep"
of the garment. The important thing is to take your time and enjoy
the experience... There are so many new fur types and styles to chose
from!
- What makes one fur
warmer than another?
The warmth of a fur is determined by the density of its underfur,
which acts as insulation, not its surface layer or guard hair. Hence,
a sheared fur can be almost as warm as an unsheared one.
- Does dyeing a fur affect
its quality?
No, most modern dyes do not harm or weaken the fur.
- Will rain ruin a fur?
Light rain will not harm your fur. Just hang it to dry in a well-ventilated
room, away from direct heat and after it dries, give a vigorous shake.
Should your fur get thoroughly soaked, bring it to us for proper treatment.
